Hello All!

Welcome to my new, fresh WordPress bike blog!  Lately, I have had an obsession with cycling and bicycles in general.  Bicycles are great for so many reasons.  They are great for exercise and are also fun to look at, build, and of course ride.

Riding a bicycle as opposed to driving a car can do wonders for the environment, which is also a plus.  Being a native Austinite, I have watched the city become increasingly more bike-friendly.  It’s been an interesting transformation and riding bicycles is becoming more popular all the time.

Safety when riding is a very important issue. I did a bike safety commercial for the WB Kids Club when I was in fourth grade.  It’s purpose was to express the importance of bike helmets for children. As a child, I got in a pretty bad bike accident that deterred me from riding bikes for a while.

To conquer my fear, as a young adult, I rode in the Tour de Fat – a family-friendly bike festival leading participants to free Fat Tire Ale (how could I resist?).  At the festival, a courageous woman traded her car for a bike.  This was an inspiration, however my frequent commutes prevent me from doing the same.  Even though I may not be able to ditch my car, I still like to ride and admire those who are avid cyclists.

In the future, my blog will attempt to feature the Texas State University Cycling Club, participants of Thursday night social rides in Austin and an individual who lives to ride.  I will also discuss the benefits of cycling and perhaps occasionally add some fun photos of art bikes.  Anyways, I hope you enjoy it!

Happy blogging,

Kelli
